The event, which also included, Director of Public Safety Ted Jankowski and Police Chief Jon Fontneau, took place on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Stamford Government Center.
The new police officers, including Javier Campos-Canales, John Zervos, and Stephen Marsico, will complete the state’s basic training program at the police academy over the next 26 weeks and will then undergo field training.
“Stamford continues to be the safest city in New England thanks to the work of the City’s police force. By becoming Police Officers these gentlemen are taking on a very important role to protect Stamford residents,” said Martin. “Being sworn in today makes each of our new recruits heroes without having done anything other than saying they’re willing to put on a uniform, and risk everything to protect this community and the families that live here.”
The new recruits will bring Stamford’s total police force to 285 officers, the fourth largest in the state.
“Our city is the safest in the region because of our exceptional Police Officers and their dedication to keeping the community safe. These new recruits fit the expectations we have for our officers,” said Fontneau. “The Stamford Police Department is the best in the nation because of the professionalism and commitment of our brave and dedicated Police Force."
